My computer unexpectedly failed last month. I was playing Minecraft when it happened; I shut it down and left for about 7 hours. Upon returning, the machine wouldn't boot. The CPU, PSU, and GPU fans spun, but the system wouldn't start.
The fans initially accelerated slightly, then returned to their usual speed, only to repeat this cycle continuously. This pattern pointed towards the graphics card as the culprit. The repetitive fan noise, I discovered, originated from the GPU itself.
Connecting the monitor directly to the motherboard resulted in normal operation. This issue emerged suddenly, without warning. How can I restore my graphics card to working order?
My system specifications are:
Processor: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+, AM2 socket, 2 cores, 3.4 GHz clock speed.
Motherboard: Gigabyte M68SM-S2L, NVIDIA nForce 630a chipset, Award software intl. Inc. F8 BIOS (28/03/2009), AM2/AM2+ socket type, PCI-Express 1.0 x16 (maximum support), currently running at x10 speed, CMOS BIOS.
RAM: 2.8 GB DDR2 memory.
Graphics Card: ATI Radeon HD 3650, 600 MB GDDR2/GDDR3 memory (depending on model), DirectX 10.1 support, PCI-Express 1.0 x8 interface.
Storage: 150 GB solid-state drive.
Power Supply: Between 300W and 350W.
Operating System: Windows 10.
