A problem emerged yesterday with my late 2012 iMac. It arrived devoid of macOS; only Windows 7 Home Premium was installed. This preexisting installation was already full.

I upgraded to a genuine Windows 8.1, a more advanced version. This proved regrettable.

The system consistently displayed a "SystemExceptionHanlder" error. A safe mode system reset was attempted. Reinstalling using the original Windows 7 CD failed.

However, utilizing a USB drive succeeded. The machine was subsequently reset. I then tried installing Windows 7 from the USB again, launching setup.exe with admin rights.

The installation commenced, progressing to the "Expanding Windows files" stage. At approximately 25%, a restart prompt appeared. After the automatic restart, two operating system choices appeared: "Install Windows" and "Windows 8.1".

Selecting "Install Windows," a blank screen ensued for hours. I restarted, choosing Windows 8.1 instead. The system booted to Windows 8.1, displaying a message about the failed Windows 7 installation. I'm stuck; help is needed.
