Despite extensive online research using English-language YouTube videos and forums, I haven't managed to install the 2.3 Firmware Update yet. Has anyone successfully performed this upgrade?
I'm aiming to install a 64-bit Windows system, which isn't possible on 1.3 devices; that's my motivation for this upgrade.
The solution, for those encountering this issue while using Mac OS Lion, is to avoid that OS. Reinstall Snow Leopard from scratch; updating the 1.3 firmware to 2.3 becomes straightforward. This method enables both El Capitan and 64-bit Windows installations.
