I recently acquired a counterfeit DualShock 4 controller, a DoubleShock 4, and I'll share my assessment. I purchased it online for about $12 last month, including import duties of $22. A $25 coupon reduced the cost significantly. The actual item price was only around $3. However, that coupon deal is now expired.
I'll include pictures in a spoiler section. My testing focused on PC compatibility.
The analog sticks are well-calibrated, neither too sensitive nor sluggish. The grip could be improved though; my thumb sometimes slips. Otherwise, they're excellent.
The directional pad, or D-pad, is responsive, soft, and quiet. That's a positive aspect.
The face buttons are similarly well-tuned and easy to press. Their symbols are a bit rough, but functionality isn't impacted.
The touchpad, speaker, light bar, and bottom ports each require their own discussion. The touchpad accurately translates finger movements into cursor control on the screen. The central speaker is inaudible; I never heard it activate. Its placement beneath the Bluetooth button is peculiar; this button's shape and lack of branding bother me. A different design would improve aesthetics. The left port's function is unknown and I couldn't test it. The headphone jack failed to transmit sound, although the headphones connected. The controller's light works flawlessly and its color is adjustable.
The trigger buttons present a smooth, effortless operation. Their responsiveness is superb.
Connecting this controller to a computer is straightforward.
Connecting Multiple PS4 Controllers to a PC
I experienced difficulty connecting several PS4 controllers to my computer. This workaround applies only to PS4 controllers. The issue was their inability to connect simultaneously. The solution provided here is for users facing a similar problem.
